Dr. Yan Zhang is a Professor of Glycobiology in Shanghai Jiao tong University, and the PI of Glycobiology & glycomics Lab, and the Chinese Director of SCSB(China) -AIST(Japan) Joint Medical Glycomics Laboratory at Shanghai Center for Systems Biomedicine. Yan Zhang received her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Tokyo in 1996. After completing postdoctoral and research fellow work at AIST in the field of Glycobiology, she joined the SJTU faculty in 2006.
Prof. Zhang's research interests span the disciplines of Glycobiology and Translational Medicine with an emphasis on studies of cell and protein glycosylation pertinent to disease states. Her lab focuses on profiling changes in protein glycosylation associated with cancer, inflammation, nervous development and exploiting this information for development of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. She is a standing member of Professional Committee of Glycoconjugate and a member of Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; member of Asian Community of Glycoscience and Glycotechnology (ACGG).
